Utilitarianism Often uses statism as a Means to an End
Because For Utilitarianism Individual Liberty is Simply a Means to an End often uses other means – statism – to achieve its ends. Utilitarians are not radicals and instead tend to advocate gradual reform. Gradual reform can best maximizing Utility best when done within the power government. Utilitarians thus often become advisors to the state. A strong executive power can often be seen as providing "efficiency" and thus "utility" which takes precedence over individual rights.
